High Voltage Shunt Capacitor increases the power transmission capability and control of the power flow in the network. It is internally or externally fused or it may be fuseless. A small capacitor is connected between DC positive and ground signals, so the undesired signal is passed to the ground. The voltage that is rated on the capacitor is slightly higher than the system voltage. It brings power factor in the transmission lines to near unity.
